I wish there were more compassionate people like you out there. Whatever it is you end up doing, I feel sure it will turn out just fine. I'm really supprised the shelter did'nt pick up the phone. I think pet stores also usually allow lost and found ads on a bullitin board. A short time ago a cockatoo was sitting on a barn gutter. This site was way out of place, so my boss just held up his arm and the bird came down and landed on his wrist. He slowly took the bird to his mother who used to raise smaller birds and had an old cage for this bird to stay in. They gave it some water right away and went to the store and got some food. It was very hungry. Then they set out to find the owner. they tryed several ways to find the owner, but no one claimed it. So, they then called the local veterinary office and the vet said they would try to find the owners and if no-one still claimed it, they knew of some people that have much experience with birds and would take the bird there for a new home. Good luck to you, I hope you can find the owner.
