Had a 2470 for quite a few years- major problem was the 504 engine- rod went through the side and got a bad overhaul next. I replaced it with an 855 Cummins- fantastic torque. Had to replace a couple wheel pivot bearings and one yoke. 70 series 2&4 wheel had a history of hydraulic pto starting up by itself- not good when you're cleaning out a field chopper!. 4690 would be a bit newer technology, prices are about like here. For cheap raw power, I'd go with a Versatile, Steiger, etc.- they use a lot of generic truck parts, and often come with the Cummins engine. Very dependable.
