Ron, you will not have to worry about the piston slap if you will try ehat I recommended in my earlier post.
"Had a Vortec. If you will change the oil to Mobil One 10W30 and a good filter, then change in 3000 miles, by the second change ALL piston slap will be gone. Been there done that.
Secret is the Mobil and changes at 3000 miles.
