First I heard of a 7 or 8 year run with Delvac having Group II base oil. I also have not heard the story of Conoco buying engines due to some problem with their group II oil. I heard the story a few times, of Conoco buying the technology from Chevron and Petro Canada, on how to refine Group II. The hydrocracked method is considerably different than the old Solvent extraction method, and expensive to convert, that being why many are dragging their feet. The 5W/30 oils recommended for many of the newer cars cannot be blended using group I oils, there is a distinct quality difference with Group II versus Group I, but I will have to confirm that with Mobil Oil about Delvac being blended with the Hydrocracked oil. First time I heard that, and you say 7 or 8 years? Chevron was about the first, don't think they have 7 or 8 years yet.
