There are quite a few JCB's around my area. They tend t o be cheaper than comparable Cat's or Ford's or Deere's. I don't think that there was anything in particular wrong with the early JCB's, but they don't command much price here. It's probably partly to do with the Leland engines. That's more of a parts cost/availability issue than reliability, I think. The later models were Perkins powered, and for the most part, the machines are quite well respected. Also bear in mind that the Cat hoes had a Ford powertrain and Perkins engine, set in a Cat frame. Watch the brakes on the Cats. A lot of guys used Cat TO-2 in the machines around here, and that isn't sufficient for the Ford brakes without the friction modifier additive, which a lot of them didn't use either. Again, I think you would be better served by evaluating each machine on it's own merits, mechanically. In the price range you're at, there could be anything wrong with any of the models you're looking at..... and any one could bite you, and any one could be the best purchase of your life. FWIW, Rod

It wasn't to relive memories of Grampa, Dad or myself out on the back 40 nursing the Farmall pulling too many b
