So, having a strong background in automatic transmissions, I just dove into it. Trouble was, hydros are not even close to an automatic transmission. Totally different bird and I had to learn as I went.

When it was all said and done, the problem was a little 1/2" o-ring under the creep adjuster, which lives under the variable orifice on the pump servo. Those variable orifice wafers decide how much oil to "dump" thereby setting the swish plate(s) position.

So, with a leak like that, the tranny thought that the control lever was always back almost at the neutral and it was pulling itself into "slow".

Yep, I've got over spray everywhere, including the wife's Yukon, which just isn't going down very well around here. :>(
