Find a neighbor kid who's computer literate, and, likely the kid will have you "up and running" in less than 5 minutes. Also, buy a couple of books, such as "Windows XP for Dummies", and "Microsoft Word for Dummies", and read up on the operating system and software. And, go to Microsoft.com, and learn to search the knowledge base and FAQ's there, since this is almost certainly a problem within the Microsoft operating system and the Microsoft Word program, not really with the Dell hardware. I certainly don't claim to be a 'puter expert, but I've read up enough on the basics to build the last 6 or 8 computers for myself and the kids, load the software, and maintain them. With tech service the way it is nowadays, you've just about got to know enough about your equipment and software to do your own troubleshooting.
