John, I actually took one apart one time to make sure. At least the one I took apart was in fact an autotransformer, with the common point between the two windings at the "+" termonal. There"s a lot of "assumptions" posted to the internet that aren"t always necessarily correct. I"ll post a schematic when I get a chance to get one drawn up. Keith
