Dad's 84 K-10 with the 305 had a similar problem, it would run fine for a few months then not start. This was always solved with a new $45.00 ignition module in the distributor. The last time it pulled this expensive stunt I had the truck. So I pulled the computer controlled distributor out and put in an HEI set up off a 76' 350 engine. Never had a problem after that. Last I saw it, the computer plug was still dangling out of the firewall by the heater box in this truck.
