If your computer is running slower the first thing I would look for is spyware. Various websites will load up your machine with small programs that report back to their owners about your internet surfing habits. As more and more of these tracking programs run they use more and more system resources, and slow your machine down. A decent and free spyware program is Adaware. You can download it at the link below. The trick is to run it, delete the tracking cookies and tracking software, then run it again (and again) until your machine come up clean. If you have Windows XP, Microslop has an OK free spyware program at Microsoft.com that you can download.
