Our 2001 Tahoe does the same thing. I was always worried about it, but it has read 16-17 volts since the day it was new, and it has 90,000 mi with no big electrical problems, thank goodness. I have never got around to checking the alternator output though. The only electrical problem that comes to mind is sort of amusing, the backlight on the climate controls doesn't come on all the time, but a sharp rap on the dash lights them up. Take Care, -Chris
