Lil-Farmer is about 95% right,the open center systems will work but not very good speed control,WE run PTO pumps from the early 70s on IH planters and had to on the JD vacuum with Hundred seris AC tractors.All air planters around us if not on a JD orCase-IH have pumps.You don't have to buy Deeres pump,Check JD-CIH-Agro-Kinse for Prices,The pumps are the same,Get a 1000RPM pump they are half the size and weigh half as much.Try your tractor on it now and You might be surprised,the 86 Seris might have Closed system Idon't really know.
