The internal pump is probably only good for 3 or 4 gpm. A back hoe or loader needs a bit more. It is possible to tap the internal hydraulics, but the parts for that aren't commonly available any more. By far the best technique is to couple a pump to the engine crankshaft through the front axle pivot. I used a 5 gpm pump from Northern to run a MF-236 loader and a Long 1099 backhoe on my MF-135. The smallest PTO pump is 11 gpm and the one I had on the loader and back hoe initially may have been the bigger 21 gpm pump because it was hard on the PTO clutch. And made running the back hoe and loader require a great deal of care to keep from lurching all the time. The 5 gpm pump made running both loader and back hoe a great deal easier. The loader used a pedestal as the hydraulic reservoir, though the Long back hoe originally used its main frame for that purpose when used with a PTO pump. Though mine wasn't usable that way because of inept frame repairs by previous owners. Anyway, an engine driven pump is the way to go. Gerald
