O.k., lets forget about all of the laws and weight classifications for a minute. I don't know about Iowa, but in Illinois the LAW is not going to bother with stopping farmer fred to check out his weight classification on his pickup. I have never had a problem with my 3/4 ton and gooseneck at any scales. As a matter of fact, I have never even stopped at the scales! As for which type of trailer is better for towing, a gooseneck is the best answer. Bumper hitch trailers place all of the weight on the rear of the truck which makes the front end light. Gooseneck trailers distribute more of the weight toward the front of the truck. It's a no brainer if you ask me.
