Red, I've never owned a 79 Ford pickup and don't have any experience working on one that I remember, so you can tell how much my opinion matters. Having said that, I once had a 1971 Buick that used to die on me intermittently, at the most inopertune times. I was afraid to drive it since it once quit as I was merging into heavy traffic and almost caused a big-time wreck. After lots of messing around, I finally found a crack in a flexible fuel line that ran above the differential. It was apparently opening and closing so that when it opened the fuel pump sucked air and when it was closed, it sucked gas. I replaced the flexible fuel line, and never had any more trouble. Good luck with your problem determination. Tom in TN
