Let me put another spin on this from the Marketing side of the internet. There are many companies paying top dollar for peoples information. Companies that have internet sites and a "contact me now" option receive hundreds if not thousands of communications every day. They can sell the contacts information for $1.80 each if not more. Think about those little boxes that give you a chance to win a trip, or a free something, the little pieces of paper are worth up to $4.00 each depending on the amount of information they provide. Ever notice after entering in a contest you receive a lot of phone calls selling something or lots of junk mail? Not to say tractor parts / salvage yards do this but I know it goes on with many other internet site.
