RNDallis asked what sort of standards or guidelines sellers use to describe condition of a tractor on another thread. No one answered him. C'mon guys! We can help him out! I've thought of a few and stole a few I've heard from others.

Always shedded - drug it out of the pasture after sitting there 15 years and put it in a shed - or - in a lean with no sides or roof.

Smokes a little - looks like it's in a biker bar, can sometimes see it through the haze.

8 out of 10 - This is a value term, for every ten dollars I'm asking, put 8 back in your pocket and it might be worth what you give me.

Thumbs up - if you stand far enough away that you can hide the tractor behind your thumb at arms length, it looks good.

ran when parked - it ran all the oil into the ground within two weeks of parking it.

Sheet metal needs a little work - none on it, you'll have to search far and wide to find the sheet metal.

Implements included - You're getting a bar rake with no teeth, a baler with no wheels or needles, a plow with no moldboards, and a disc with no blades.

Parts included - I dug into the engine and this is what was left over when I put it back together.

Tires fair - they hold air if you keep the compresser running.

Needs some TLC - needs to hitch a ride to the scrap dealer.

I've been pretty blessed when it comes to buying tractors so far but my time to be burned bad is coming...
