They're pretty small, and almost the same color as the grease, so really hard to spot. And you might have to dig down into the grease a bit to find them. What is hamful is their excrement (ie, poop) as it contains acids that break down the grease and destroy it's lubricating ability. If you have a lot of them, you should be able to rub a little grease between your thumb and forefinger and feel the little chunks of poop.
