I think you would be way underpowered with 70hp. I was running a 250hp cummins and pulled that dead a few times. I bought used truck engines and used a TwinDisk clutch setup to build my own powerplants. I have seen them built using the truck transmission and clutch. Another thing you would need is a demand governor. I tried running without that and it did not work. If you should decide to try what Leland suggested(350 car engine)you will have to install a governor on that too. As to fuel effiency, I could run all day on 10 gal. of diesel. The speed of your saw depends on how it is tensioned. Most are set up to run around 550 to 600 rpm. It should be stamped on the saw.
