Funny you should mention that. Radio Shack (or Radio Schlock, as I call it these days) usetabe the place to go for pieces-parts if ya built yer own electronic stuff.

I needed the parts to build a cable to transfer a program from a laptop to a PLC (programmable logic controller) at work. Did manage to find a 9 pin serial DSUB connector, but no cable, no 8 pin DIN plugs, no "breadboard" connectors (where you can change the pinout by moving plugs) and the feller looked at me like I was from another planet when I asked about gender changers...
