I make a living driving escort truck for oversize loads and my truck has decided to make life interesting lately.. It doesn"t want to shift into overdrive anymore, and it also won"t shift down to 1st unless you manually shift it. Truck is a half ton GMC, I assume it is a 700r4 or the new replacement for it.. 4 speed overdrive. WHen it first started happening, I flushed it by pouring in new tranny fluid as the old filled my drain bucket from the cooler lines, and it seemed to help for a little while. It got that old black fluid out of there anyway. The gears would start working normally after I drove for ahour or two. Next day, no overdrive again. Now I notice it seems to have only two gears .. the low gear is good til 50 MPH, and high is now good for about 75..If I have it in OD, it won"t hold back at all on hills, just freewheels. But if itisin third it will hold back. It is pretty much a gas guzzler now as well and I am working on another truck to replace it , hopefully before it leaves me stranded. Is it rebuild time, or can I have someone clean out the crud in the valve body and save it? Truck has 180 K miles, may have had a rebuild installed by previous owners, I got it at 100K.this past spring. Any thoughts, transmission experts? THANKS!!

This method of starting proved more than adequate and kept the cost down on the unit. It had all the important
