Well David, seems your a youngster on this stuff, as for me now, What I did, is took off the oil pan, and cleaned it up real good, and then I used engine flush and ran the tractor for only about 30 minutes (then change the oil filter and oil) , then, after all that, I find that not using the tractors very much, I find the oll didn't get dirty that quick when I cleaned them up, and if not used very much, I changed the oil every year, but keep an eye on that oil, cause if you use the tractor more then you think, it will start getting dirty, then of course I change it, that keeps the engine working just fine... As for synthetic oil, I don't waste my money on that stuff, (some like it, I don't) Just good oil that you trust in and is highly recommended is the best, I use (ONLY) Valvoline, that works the best for me
