It is a real wake up call for most people. I have been involved if firefighting for 11 years, and I hate to see and hear what people have to go through. We had a guy in our fire protection district who had a fire 2 years ago and he is still fighting with his insurance company. The best thing a guy can do is take pictures of everything and keep them in a safe place. Insurance companies define buildings buy room and contents, but if you cannot show them the "contents", or any reciepts, you will have problems. The way people store things in their homes is crazy two. I know of a situation where a guy had 2 batteries setting on a table, and a very large box of bolts fell off of a shelf onto the batteries. The batteries make contact with the bolts, and to make a long story short, burnt half of his house down! It is wierd, but it did happen!
