IMO it is a GOOD chance that any JD will have a good tranny. You really have to abuse them to break them---or else use them heavily for 25,000 hours. Concerns about powershift are mostly due to the increased repair price. Both are really quite reliable. The only tendency a SR tends to have is for the gears to sometimes pop out of gear. This is due to wear on the shift gates and it is more of an adjustment thing than a "broken" thing to take care of.
