Thanks for the reply. This reinforces my thoughts on the problem. You are exactly right about it being easier to go into forward. It almost "falls" into forward where-as there is more resistance going into reverse. As far as access, there is a plate on the right side of this clutch area (see picture) with 2 steel lines going through / into it there. I'll study the manual a little more and see about compensating for wear by removing a shim or 2. If I can fix it that easily I'll be thrilled. I got a good deal on the tractor ($2k) due to this problem. Tim
