Chris: My EZ-Go did exactly what you described today. It turned out to be one of the heavy cables connecting the box of wires on the firewall to the starter. The connector had corroded and the wire was so stiff that it stayed in place, arcing occasionally to let the engine start, but not really providing a contact. So I stripped the insulation, tightened the wire in place, and off it went for the rest of a day of tree planting. I hope this helps, Rod MH30 foibles: With 7 tree-planters aboard the trailer, my MH30 suddenly quit. So I grabbed the draw bolt and tapped the carburetor firmly, got back on and started it up. Float valve, I commented to the gaping spectators. (The above comment was the mandatory tractor-content for this discussion board. Grin.)
