This is off topic, but vital to the health of my marriage and my freedom to go to tractor shows also! Our 93 suburban with factory installed radio that has a tape player in a seperate place on the right side of dash and also a graphic equalizer right beside the tape deck has problems. The radio volume control has become unuseable. Either it is too loud, too low or nothing. This is the third one in the car since new. I have an almost new Radio Shack Optimus stero with built in auto reverse tape deck that I installed in a blazer , when the car was traded I kept the new radio and put the GM radio back in the blazer. The radio has an adapter kit with faceplate and the correct wiring harness connections to hook into a GM 4 speaker set up. I would like to install this into the suburban. The mechanical installation will be simple, the kit has the right face plate and wiring harness for GM products from 1988 thru 2000 when I bought it al. The question is this; what would I do about the factory tape unit and the graphic equalizer setups? Maybe bypass the original tape player and just hook to the graphic equalizer with the wiring harness connectors? It is a very nice unit and I would like to install it so she will let me off the hook. Does any body out there have an answer? Any good GM sound technicians, or just good radio installers? How about it people?? Gene Davis
