i used a bearing splitter to clamp around the pulley to get it off. its a two piece unit that clamps around the pulley on the backside, i have a matco, model mst4518. you may be able to borrow one as they are a little pricey, but if you are going to do a lot of engine work, they are very handy. i have seen people use a piece of 1-2 inch steel plate cut like a horseshoe that will fit behind the pulley, then they use a 2 or 3 jaw puller. soak it up good with penetrating oil for a couple of days first. good luck!
