Old Garrison Keillor story: To get rid of skunks, throw in lefse to stink them out. But then you'll have Norwegians to get rid of. Levity aside, if you could smudge the thing out somehow, and knew where it would exit, then would be a good time to apply one or more loads of number 6 birdshot from a shotgun. This assumes that the exit path location would allow a safe shot. I'm a 12 gage man, but a 20 gage should also do fine. The skunk probably will spray when hit, but if it's not near a building the stink should dissipate in a day or two. You'll be able to carry it on a shovel to an appropriate burial location. I've seen them head toward chicken coops in broad daylight, and have taken them out while they just kept coming.
