We have it in north Alabama. Like lc said ,in this area it's found in the "river ridges" near the Tennessee River. It's a white slate like stone that's more square and rectangle than round. It's mixed with a red clay like soil. Makes for a good base when packed. Got it on my driveway with limestone on top. The group Alabama has a line about it in one of there songs.
