A couple of days ago, the wholesale price of regular unleaded was $2.00 per gallon while the wholesale price of ethanol was $2.50 per gallon. So whatever percent of ethanol is added to fuel, the cost to the consumer will go up. It's like High Definition TV. If you can convince the government through lobbying or contributions to make something mandatory, you will make money. Whether it's really necessary, perceived, or made up doesn't really matter. Follow the money to find the real answer.
