Places like AutoZone are the "McParts" stores..."ya want fries wit dat?" They get what they pay for, which usually is entry-level counter help. When AZ first came to this area, I applied for a store manager position. Got thru the interview just fine, but they weren't willing to pay me as a STORE MANAGER what I was making as a COUNTERMAN in the local Ford dealership. So I stayed where I was, and they evidently got what they paid for...unfortunately for their customers. Back then, AZ was a part of Malone and Hyde, a GROCERY chain...which meant that MERCHANDISING was more important to them than CUSTOMER SERVICE. Not sure if it's the same now, but I suspect nothing's changed.
