Ive got the same cub, and started havign all kinds of problems. Checked anything I could thnk of but never checked the battery.! It would turn over and start but would have running problems and then the mower clutch would not kick in. Bottom line, make sure your battery is good, it may start the tractor but it seems there are real close tolerances on voltage on everything on those machines. FYI- the mower clutch is around $230-$250
