We use to spray it in the past too when for hay but yes it will burn it some and stunt it if turns off real hot and dry. Like the others said check local to see what they recommend. We had problems with pre plant chemicals as it could stunt it or if heavy hard rains came at wrong time as it was just coming up and tender the rain splashed chemical on it from the soil and killed some of it and stunted it enough to cause a replant through it with a disc drill. At least you got rain to sprout something and showers here over weekend barely settled the dust.
