air filter on 73' ford

O.K, I have the headers on.. gave up trying to fix the cold starting problem(just the nature I guess).. so next on the list is a better air filter. the stock filter works, but I would like to have better.. so I was thinkin about either a hood scoop or a K&N air filter. what one would you go for? I think a scoop on this ol' gal would look pretty sharp(remember I am only 17!)..
I could make the scoop and rig it up to go into the stock filter, so it would be a ram-air. I have figgerd out how I would do it.. have the plans to make it.. just was waiting on a clear day. but what do you guys think?
