Any tire running over the bean rows will show lots of damage. One advantage of combining row beans at an angle is the wear gets spread over the entire face of the tire. Also evens out sickle wear, pushes little rocks between the rows instead of scooping them up. Easier to see the cutterbar as well, no bunching of beans over the row. Saves more beans. I usually used about a 30 degree angle.
