Go over and ask in the Ferguson Forum-- you'll get lot's of replies there. I *believe* you have an early TO-20 judging by the serial number. My TO-30 has been modified to use a key switch and starter solenoid, but TO-20s and TO-30s both originally used the shifter to start the tractor. The shifter has six positions-- 1, 2, 3, 4, R, and S (for start). You shift over to 'S' and push the shifter forward to activate a push-type starter switch on the tranny bellhousing. You won't find a hydraulic dipstick-- the diffy, tranny, and hydraulics all use the same fluid (GL-1 gear oil is specified.) As you are sitting on the tractor, the clutch pedal is on the left and the brakes are on the right. Don't trust your brakes too much until you've got a feel for them (on flat ground, please!) Also, don't bush-hog without an ORC (over-running coupler) or the energy stored in the bush-hog's flywheel may push you into a ditch, up a tree, through a fence, etc. because stepping on the clutch will NOT stop your tractor if it is directly coupled without an ORC. You ought to get a manual to read first, and it would help if you could get a savvy neighbor or friend to help you get acquainted with your machine. Be careful, and ask lots of questions. Darren
