I made your point with regard to hard slick surfaces, namely ice. In field conditions, particulairly in loose soil, you want all the tire you can get, and then double them up. I wouldn't argue that there does need to be a certain ground pressure to get a bit. It does depend somewhat on the surface type. However in general terms the more rubber on the road, the more you're going to pull. You just need to add the appropriate amount of weight to get the pull. Look at drag racers. They don't have narrow tires. Look at nearly any tractor coming off the line today; espectially the Euro tractors. They've all got massive low profile radials. It's all about area, and the more the better. I'm sure if you looked toward the Nebraska test data, there would be a mountain of evidence to support that too. Rod
