Can a bent Mower crank be straightened?

Friend dropped off his nearly new push mower he hit a rock with. The crank has 3/4 inch of wobble..Has anyone sucessfully strraightened such an animal? 8 Hp B and S , Long crank for mulcher mower. It still would run fine if I reinstalled the carb that shook clean off the motor.....
