I am in a local horse club. Hell, I don't even have a horse - my wife does. They made be "maintenance chairman" (sucker). I didn't even show up the night for the vote, just to avoid being re-elected. Anyway, they have a small Case tractor, and wanted to buy a brushhog for it. I keep screaming that a 5 foot hog was too big, and a couple of "experts" insisted on a 5 footer instead of a 4 foot hog. They went out and bought one, installed it, cut 10 feet of grass with it, and said it was fine. I tried using it last night, and the hydralics just can't maintain the proper height... it bleeds down and eventually digs the front into the ground. In fact, the "experts" had installed a c-clamp on the lift control so that it was constantly doing a little bit of "UP" to make up for the leak down. I suppose I can rip the hydralic piston apart and rebuild it... Maybe it won't leak then and will stay put - not sure. Before I do that, does anyone have any other suggestions? I thought about installing wheels on either side on the front of the hog, but the 3 point lift has down pressure, so if I hit a bump or rock, the lower arms are not going anywhere. I am afraid that the thing will detatch from the lower arms and kill somebody (probably me). Any constructive ideas?
