Tomatoes (OT)

Hey all. Since I see we're posting field pictures, I thought I'd ask a gardening question.

Got a bit of off-the-wall advice neighbor the other day. Said "Plant a cup of oatmeal with your tomato plants when you set them out."

Well, I did. A total of 42 plants. One row has a cup of oatmeal directly under the plant in the bottom of the hole. Another row has the oatmeal added in about 3 layers around the roots, with dirt in between. A third (and sometimes 4th) row are planted normally (no oatmeal) -- you gotta have a control group with any experiment!

Anybody else ever heard of this before, or tried it?
