As you can see from Glen's picture, the main jet assembly must be removed prior to splitting the carb apart. (Because it passes through the bowl and body at an angle.) Likewise, you have to put it back in after you've reassembled the body and bowl. Be sure and check the float for leaks. Just hold the float up to your ear and shake it. If you hear gas sloshing around inside the float, you must replace it. These are very easy carbs to rebuild. Don't worry too much if you can't get all the orifices out. They've been in the carb for over forty years and won't come out without some heat. Just make sure all the pasageways are clear.
