When I was a kid...me and cousin Dick would fight every bumble bee nest that we could find...just ornery, I guess. When we would come upon a nest in the ground baling hay...uncle Bill would shut off that Wisconsin engine on the baler and you fellows that have used them know that they won"t start when they"re hot till they cool off. He just enjoyed the fun. We"d attack them and then have to run and the old dog would be running right beside us and you could hear him yelp when one popped him. They almost always landed in our hair and we"d just rake them out as we ran. We got a little more professional about it when we made up paddles out of the old flattened tin coal shovels that we punched holes in with a punch and hammer on the anvil. It certainly was fun for us...but there is a variety of little black bumble bee and they are a lot quicker than the big yellow and black ones. It was a big joke to us if one of us got popped in the face and had an eye swelling shut. The worst you can get it is if the exhaust on the tractor tickles a hornet nest in a tree....they"ll gang up on you and so many of them will pop you that your face will swell up and you look like a monster. That"s another story...not so funny. My opinion is if you got any kind of bees that you need to get rid of...you can put on heavy coveralls, a jungle Jim hard hat, mosquito net, welding gloves and a roll of 100 mph tape so that they can"t get to your skin and you can then use a hammer to get rid of them if you want...cause you can go right up to them and tear up their nest and cause them to leave or gas them. Better know if you"re allergic to stings first before you start having fun. Fred OH

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out. After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
