If you poke around on this site, or do a Google search, you should find a kit to do this conversion. It uses a Delco 10SI, 3 wire alternator with the tach drive built into the alt. Perhaps you could also find this through NAPA, or another local source, or even devise a way to mount the drive yourself. When I did the conversion on mine, I went to a new instrument cluster for the hundred/10 series tractors, and drove the tach off the oil pump drive shaft... But my 4000 had the newer style block, which yours doesn't have. So, look around. I've seen that kit on this site. You won't regret being rid of that generator either. HTH. Rod
