I recently just bought my first diesel truck. It is a F350 crew cab dually XL, with a 7.3liter powerstroke turbo automatic (white in color). It had 212,300+miles on it when I got it. It now has 215,200+ miles on it and it runs and sounds great. I know several people who have ford diesels and none of them have ever bad mouthed any of the powerstrokes even the newer ones. But I can say that when I am casually talking about trucks with a guy driving a $40k-$45K truck (Ford, Chevy, or Dodge) and I tell him I have less than $6k in my truck, and he can see mine runs, sounds, and pulls just as good as their truck they are impressed. The only work I have done too the truck is six new tires, front end alignment, new glow plugs and glow plug relay (really helps with cold starting). I am getting about 16/17mpg depending on conditions. I don't know how to compare it to others but I am very satisfied with my truck so far and you can really feel the power of a powerstroke. I would recommend you look for a good used truck from 94' on up, if its a 94' just be sure its a powerstroke and not the older IDI.

After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
