Auction Results, Allen would have loved this one!

Went to a friends farm auction in Fairfield Vermont today. Auction crowd was kinda slow to get there so the auction couldn't be started on time, so they started around half an hour late. 7 tractors, a TLB and a bulldozer. 1st tractor that sold was a Ford 901 diesel with a wide front, decent tires, decent tin, but the fenders were rusted out, good rubber, ran good, but had a hairline crack in the block, I think they got $1,750 for it. Next was an IH 674 that was pretty nice, had a very recent motor job, good rubber, decent original paint, ready to go, brought $7,000. Next was an IH 884, now this was a real beauty, new tires, very nice original paint, no dents, grill guard, dual pto and 2 remotes, only thing that was even slightly wrong with it was the T/A slipped in low alittle bit, this brought $8,500. Next was a IH 766 that was so nice, it looked like something Allen in NE owned, this one was a real super nice rare find and I think it was the deal of the day, real nice rubber, only 2005 original hours, like new factory paint, ran like brand new, brought a lousy $6,500. Next was a IH 1486 that only had 4400 original hours, brand new inner tires, and duals that were more like 50%, but were not weatherchecked, only thing wrong with it is it had been left outside the last few years so the paint was alittle faded, but I think with some wax it could have been brought back, ran like a new one, brought $9,500. Next was a Case IH 685 4wd with a Case IH 2250 quick tach loader, looks wise, it could have been better, the paint was alittle faded, the tires were about 50%, but it ran like new, this brought $16,500 Next was a Agco Allis 6690, 4wd, cab, and quick tach loader, nice tires, looked pretty good, and ran like new, this brought around $13,000. The backhoe was a 2wd Case 580B, well taken care of, and ran nice, had new but mis matched rear tires, this brought $8,500. The last one was the International TD-8 bulldozer, had a power angle blade on it, ran and worked very nice, had been totally gone through and rebuilt by a dealer and was guaranteed to be 100% by the auctioneer, he even said the buyer could try it out on an old stone wall and if he didn't like it and found something wrong with it, he didn't have to own it, this brought $12,500. For Impliments, they sold a NH 316 square baler with a kicker on it for $6,000 that hadn't seen enough hay through it to wear off the paint off the pickup head, totally like brand new, not even any scratches in the paint and always been sheded. He had a Case IH 781 chopper with a hay and 2 row corn head that was in excellent condition and had always been sheded, they couldn't even get a single bid on it, so they passed it. Almost new Corn Pro 6 cow fifth wheel stock trailer in showroom condition bought $3,000. This guy took excellent care of his stuff, kept it all like brand new, everything worked on all of his equipment. He truely loved to farm, but after 3yrs of not making any money, with no milk price increase in the forseeable future, they decided (him and his son) to get out of it and find something else to do. Like he said, they could have kept going, but what was the use?, the best they could do was about break even with their expenses. $11 milk is really hurting all the farmers around here, most of the people were keeping their hands in their pockets and the equipment dealer that usually buys all the stuff that goes for considerably less than what it's worth didn't buy anything today. I didn't buy anything either.
