This was a regular occurence in AZ where I drove taxi for a while. A guy would come into town all dressed up and acting important and call the cab. He'd try to commandeer the cab for a long time, as his own personal car, but would run out of money quick. A few days later his new clothes would all be stinky and dirty, and he'd get run out of town eventually. It would always be the same story, put me on credit until my next big check arrives from my banker.. don't know why it hasn't showed yet.. etc.. Another guy supposedly inherited a million dollars from his folks but his brother had it and wouldn't give it to him.. He was also "dying of Cancer with 6 months to live". He had very little extra cash but always seemed to get by.Got a bunch of free handouts. He's still around several years later, and has made a few friends and a lot more enemies. Even got in a couple of convenient accidents and fights that lawyers used to his advantage and now he's got some money. Even runs his own car lot now. Still hasn't showed any sign of dying. Scammers like these just make it harder for all the real hard luck cases out there. I'm a bunch more jaded after dealing with these guys.
