OK, I had some corn smut issues last year on my sweet corn, still had a good crop. Well out checking corn today for ground moistness and noticed a few "balls" of fungus coming up from the root area of the corn. I dont like the sight of that. Do I have a bad problem coming in the next month or not? The corn is 14-17" tall and seems very healthy, nice and dark green, rain fall was little in may, but lot of organic matter in soil held moisture well. Is there anything I should do to combat the fungus? Any advice would be appreciated, all profit from the feild goes to the kids education account. They get to weed it this week so they learn money dont come with out working for it.
