Like Bob NY sez, a stone boat is the best. A sheet of 3/8" steel with a hole in one end for a chain. Runners will reduce friction but it depends on the size of the rock. You can get fancy by turning up the foreward edge which tends to dig in. You can drag a lot bigger rock than you can pick up with hydraulics. Also, for those wanting to sell their rocks for landscaping, you can encourage moss to grow on them by smearing them with yoghurt. Sounds silly but they say it works.
