Just went through that on a Ford 3000 tank that had a couple of pin holes in it. I took it off and aired it out for a couple of days then soldered the holes shut. Pretty easy actually. Clean it REAL good to bare metal. Use soldering flux. Keep your heat down low. Propane works fine. I used oxy/acet. squeezed down real low and ordinary lead free plumbers solder. Never had any luck with JB weld. It'll loosen if it's in direct contact with gas.
